This past March, I attended PlannerCon 2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, CA. It was the first of its kind and it was an amazing event! There were keynote speaker sessions as well as individual workshops and a vendor fair. The speakers and workshops ranged from planner topics to social media marketing and everything in between. I had my own fan girl moments when I got to meet Erin Condren, Amy Tangerine and Cori Spieker – The Reset Girl in person! I took a ton of notes at all of the sessions and shopped till I dropped. I even got to hug and thank Louise Umeki who planned the whole thing, along with her wonderful staff and volunteers. I’m totally looking forward to PlannerCon 2018 which is being held in the same spot next year on March 3rd and 4th, 2018. I love that it’s totally close to home for me! Here are some of the highlights from my PlannerCon 2017 experience:

Louise Umeki was kind enough to answer these interview questions for me in between her busy schedule. She is a wonderful lady with a HUGE heart!
1) You are the Founder and President of Powerful Possibilities. Please tell us all about it.
Powerful Possibilities is all about jumping into action in your business, your personal life and your community. We do monthly events with business training, encouragement and inspiration while making new connections & building relationships. We also do other events focused on personal development as well as community building. I do not believe in competition (except in sports – LOL) I believe in supporting everyone who is actually doing something and not just talking about what they are going to do someday or what they did in the past. I thinks it’s so important to give back and build our local communities through a non-profit that you believe in – not just making a donation but actually be in service taking action.
2) You’re also a Certified Vision Board Coach. What concepts do you teach in your Vision Board workshops?
I love sharing with people how making a vision or dream board is fun but there’s so much more to it than that. First you need the emotional connection to your dream/goals/vision – the place you go to when things are not going well, when others tell you it can’t or won’t happen and you feel like giving up. You need to believe in that goal so much that you can taste, hear, feel, smell and see it happening when no one else does. Second, you need to take your vision board and make copies so that you have it in your planner, your notebook, on your desk in a frame and hanging on the wall or your mirror so you see it everyday. Third, you must have an action plan, a strategy plan and a way of tracking where you are daily, weekly and monthly. You can ask and believe but if you don’t put consistent & persistent action in there, you will not receive.
3) What was the impetus behind putting together PlannerCon?
I was in a group in June 2015 and saw a post about having a national planner’s conference and wouldn’t it be fun?? Lots of comments of people saying yes, yes, yes but no one saying, let’s do it so I asked a simple question – would anyone like to get on a call and discuss this? I was thinking Google hangout with 10 people or Skype with 25 – really? It went crazy with people saying yes and asking lots of questions so we set up a new group called PC 2016 with no idea what would happen. That was about 2:30 in the afternoon. My computer went crazy and I thought I had a virus because of the immense amount of group requests and friend requests that immediately hit! When I went to bed tat night at 11 pm, there were already 1100+ people in the group with request to join still coming! When I woke up to find we had over 2000 people in the group, I knew this was something special. That call to discuss this adventure turned into a conference call with over 600 people on the call. and my PlannerCon journey began! Today we have almost 8000 people in our group and 2 weeks ago had our AMAZING PlannerCon 2017 National Conference with over 1000 people between registered attendees, speakers, sponsors, vendors, workshop leaders and guests there! We’re excited for PlannerCon 2018!
4) How many planners do you personally own? Do you work in them every day?
I have 11 planners. I’m currently using 7 daily – my beautiful Gillio Compagna which is my encouragement & inspirational planner, Happy Planner for my daily scripture journal writing, Happy Planner in a Carpe Diem for my daily personal & business planning, Happy Planner in another Carpe Diem for PlannerCon planning, 2 Webster TNs with May notebooks – 1 TN for my faith journey and 1 is my purse planner I use when out & about and 1 notebook is used for notes I take of business training at Powerful Possibilities, I also have a Filofax, Erin Condren life planner, 2 new TNs, a new Prima Marketing planner and 3 other Carpe Diems. I have loved planning & journaling for over 20 years!
5) Besides planning, what else do you like to do in your spare time? I love to spend time with my 2 awesome grandsons and my amazing son and daughter-in-law. They are the joys of my life. I love to cook & spend time with my friends. For over 10 years, I’ve held my Fabulous Friendship Family Friday dinners in my home with 5 to 65 people attending! I’ve had to take a break since my journey with PC 2017 began. I love baseball (SF Giants), football (SF 49ers) and I have been a dedicated soccer mom & grandma for over 35 years! I love direct sales and have been involved in many ways for over 25 years! I am currently with Touchstone Crystals by Swarovski which also feeds my love of beautiful jewelry & sparkles! and of course, I LOVE playing with all my planners while listening to country music!
