25 Things I Learned in 2016

2016 was a very tumultuous year for me., but it was full of life lessons and learning experiences.

*I learned a lot about myself and what coping skills I really need to work on.

*I learned who my true friends really are and even lost a few that just didn’t fit into my life anymore.

*I learned that when a relationship is a one-way street, then it’s time to stop and change directions.

*I learned that when I don’t know how to do something, it’s time to let professionals handle things.

*I learned that peace and quiet really is priceless.

*I learned that it’s okay to say “no” to some things, in order to say “yes” to better things.

*I learned that my sister is a fountain of wisdom, even if she is younger than me.

*I learned that I need to listen to my gut the FIRST time it tells me that things are not okay.

*I learned that it’s okay to be ME because the world needs to hear MY VOICE.

*I learned who I am as a person is NOT directly related to my hair color or my weight.

*I learned that I need to have more faith in myself, my gifts and my own inner strength.

*I learned how to appreciate Β and graciously receive compliments.

*I learned that it’s perfectly okay to “PIVOT!” and change my mind about ANYTHING.

*I learned that it’s NOT selfish to take care of myself when my mind and body tells me that I need to.

*I learned to take more risks and relish in the payoff, whether it was creatively or personally.

*I learned how strong I can be in the face of emotional hurricanes that nearly tore me to pieces.

*I learned that I need to actually read all of the books that I bought this year.

*I learned that it’s NEVER too late to go after your dreams.

*I learned how to put my phone down and appreciate being present in the moment.

*I learned the true meaning of friendship is sometimes hidden in glasses of wine and nights of laughter.

*I learned to appreciate the magic of weekend afternoon naps.

*I learned to “enjoy the journey”, no matter where it takes me.

*I learned that, after all these years, I still LOVE scrapbooking with all of my heart.Β

*I learned that it’s an amazing feeling to pursue my passions and create this wonderful website.

*I learned that the world is full of wonderful creative women, just like me.

I hope to make 2017 a much better year for myself and for all of you as I create and expand my blog and website. I want to include more behind-the-scenes looks at my creative process and share more of my retreat experiences. I attended quite a few this year and I need to tell you all about them! I want to share more about my work-life-hobby-blog balance and let you in on some of my secrets to maintaining my sanity. In not so many words, I want to put more of “me” into California Scrappin’!

I can’t thank you enough for all of your support through the ups and downs of getting this website up and running. Some of you have been with me since the early days of my blog and I love you for it. I wouldn’t be able to do this without all of you cheering me on. As always, please feel free to email me, message me or comment below with things that you want to see here. I’m always open to suggestions to keep the world of scrapbooking alive and kicking.

Big hugs to all of you and Happy Scrappin’!
